What it is
Russian Flag Day, the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, is observed on 22 August. The date is usually linked to August 1991, when the white-blue-red tricolour was raised as the country’s flag, and the day has been marked officially since the 1990s.
It is a state holiday with patriotic meaning, so businesses that mark it should keep the tone calm and respectful and avoid using it as a pure sales hook.

Thank you for your trust and for the projects we are building together. We wish everyone a calm, productive end of the summer.
What to avoid
- Do not use the flag as a decorative joke or on products and designs that could be seen as disrespectful; keep imagery clean and correct
- Avoid political statements and commentary: this is a day of a state symbol, not a platform for debate
- Do not link the day to a heavy sale or discount countdown
When to post
- Prepare the visual and text a week ahead and check the correct order of colours on the flag
- Publish in the morning of 22 August; in 2027 it falls on a Sunday, so keep the post short and calm
- The day after, return to your normal content plan; no follow-up campaign is needed
What to check afterwards
- Reactions and comments, in a tone that matches your audience
