What it is
International Nurses Day is observed on 12 May, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. It is usually linked to the International Council of Nurses, which has marked the day since the 1960s and publishes a theme for each year.
It is a day to thank nurses for their work, which is often invisible to patients outside the appointment. For clinics, pharmacies, wellness brands and health-related businesses it is a good opportunity to show the people behind the care.
