What it is
Heroes of the Fatherland Day is observed in Russia on 9 December and honours people awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of the Russian Federation and holders of the Order of St George and the Order of Glory. The date is usually linked to the old Order of St George holiday that was celebrated in the Russian Empire in early December.
Because the day is about remembrance and respect, businesses should treat it as a day for sincere words rather than marketing.

Our team is working as usual, but today we pause for a moment of silence. If you would like to share the story of a hero from your family, you are welcome to do it in the comments.
Today is Heroes of the Fatherland Day. We would like to express sincere respect to those who have earned this title and to their families. A short note about our hours: we work as usual, and in the evening we will close a few minutes earlier for a moment of remembrance. Thank you for being with us and for your understanding.
On Heroes of the Fatherland Day, our students prepared short stories about people from our city whose courage became part of local history. We share them today with the permission of their families, in a calm and respectful way. If you have a story from your family that you would like to add, you can send it to us in a private message.
What to avoid
- Do not use jokes, memes, party tone or sales language; this is a day of respect and remembrance
- Do not use military imagery or heroes’ names as promotion, and do not offer promotional discounts tied to the day
- Do not publish photos or stories of real people without clear permission from them or their families
When to post
- Prepare a short, calm greeting a few days ahead and check facts only from reliable sources
- Publish in the morning of 9 December, which falls on a Wednesday in 2026, and avoid scheduling promotions around it
- Return to your regular content the next day without referring to the day as a campaign
What to check afterwards
- Respectful comments and personal stories from followers
- Shares from people who found the post meaningful, rather than reach alone
- Feedback in private messages, which shows whether the tone was right
