What it is
Informatics Day in Russia is celebrated on 4 December. It is usually linked to a 1948 Soviet patent application for a digital computing machine, and it is observed as a day for computing, programming and IT professionals.
Today schools, universities, IT companies and online courses use it to congratulate developers, share learning tips and invite beginners to try technology.

Happy Informatics Day! Today is a good moment to try something new. If you have ever wanted to understand how code works, start small: one tiny program, one result on the screen. In stories we published a short lesson you can repeat in five minutes. Tell us in the comments what you want to learn next, and we will build the next lesson on your votes.
Informatics Day is a good reason to thank the developers, testers, designers and support engineers whose work stays invisible when it goes well. Our team learns something from every project, and clients feel the result in speed and reliability. If you work in IT, share the one tool or habit that made you better this year.
To mark Informatics Day, we collected a short list of useful things for work at a computer: stands, cables, organisers and small accessories that make a desk easier to use. Open the catalogue from the menu button and tell us what you work on, and we will suggest three items for your setup. Delivery times are on each product page.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- It works on my machine. A light, self-aware panel about the classic developer joke, with your team’s own twist. Use it only if your audience is familiar with the context.
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: coding as films show it and as it really is, with a cup of tea and a long debugging session. Keep it affectionate.
What to avoid
- Do not talk down to beginners or use heavy jargon without explanation
- Do not claim that technology solves everything; be realistic about what courses or tools deliver
- Avoid invented discounts on courses or products that you cannot honour
When to post
- Prepare a short lesson or fact a few days ahead and let a technical colleague review it
- Publish on the morning of 4 December, which falls on a Friday in 2026, and share stories in the afternoon
- On the weekend, reshare questions from followers and plan a follow-up post
What to check afterwards
- Saves of the learning post or carousel, which show practical value
- Comments and replies with the topics people want to learn
- Sign-ups or visits to your course or product page from the post
