What it is
St Patrick's Day is observed on 17 March in honour of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is Ireland's national day and a public holiday in Northern Ireland, and Irish communities around the world celebrate it with parades, music and green clothes.
Outside Ireland it has become a social day for pubs, cafés and shops, with green drinks, shamrocks and themed menus. It works best when it stays friendly and light.
Symbols: The shamrock, green clothes, harps, a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, Irish music

Today we are wearing green and so is our menu: a matcha latte, a mint chocolate cake and a green smoothie. Come in wearing something green, take a photo with our shamrock wall and tag us. Tell us in the comments which of the three you would try first, and we will pick one reader for a treat on the house.
Join us on 17 March for an evening of Irish music, green decorations and small treats. Bring friends, wear green and take part in a lucky-clover draw at the end. Tables are limited, so message us if you would like to reserve one. We are looking forward to seeing the best green outfit in the room.
To mark St Patrick's Day we are giving away a small green gift set. To enter, reply to this post with your luckiest moment this year, and press the menu button to see the green items in our catalogue. We will choose one winner by random draw and announce it here tomorrow. Good luck to everyone.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: the perfect green drink you imagine and the colour you actually get. Add a caption on how many drops of food colouring it took.
- Spot the odd one out. A photo of green items with one non-green product hidden among them. Ask followers to find it in the comments.
What to avoid
- Do not push the heavy-drinking stereotype; offer a non-alcoholic option and keep the tone friendly
- Do not mock Irish accents or culture; celebrate it with respect
- Do not promise anything “lucky” in a financial sense, like guaranteed winnings
When to post
- Prepare the menu and decorations at least a week ahead, since 17 March is a Wednesday in 2027
- Publish the main post in the morning and the giveaway announcement the next day
- Share photos of guests in green the day after, with permission
What to check afterwards
- Tags and shares of green-outfit photos
- Sales of the themed menu items compared to a normal Wednesday
- Entries to the giveaway and new followers
