Email marketing, popups and web push: first steps

A short guide to the three website and mailing apps: connect a site or sender, collect contacts and send the first campaign.

Three apps work with your website and your mailing list: Email Marketing, Popups and Web Push Notifications. Each is a separate app in All apps. Here are the first steps for each.

Email Marketing

Menu: Overview, Campaigns, Templates, RSS Campaigns, Lists, Subscribers, Segments, Reports, Attribution, Deliverability, Settings.

  1. Connect a sender. Click Connect email provider. It opens Channels, where you connect your own SMTP server or SendGrid, Mailgun or Amazon SES. Your reputation and sending limits stay yours.
  2. Check readiness. In Settings, check that everything is ready and send a test email to yourself. Deliverability helps you see whether letters reach the inbox.
  3. Collect subscribers. Create a list in Lists and add people in Subscribers, by import or from forms. Split them with Segments.
  4. Send. Click Create campaign, choose a template and a list and send or schedule it.

RSS Campaigns send your new articles automatically. Attribution shows which emails brought sales.

Popups

Menu: Overview, Go-live guide, Websites, Campaigns, Templates, A/B experiments, Leads, Analytics, Sales from Popups, Conversion tracking, Event sources, Webhooks, Connection activity, Settings, Test Popup visibility.

Open the Go-live guide and follow its checklist:

  1. Connect your site in Websites.
  2. Install the script before the closing </head> tag and confirm it works.
  3. Send one confirmed event, so the popup knows when to show.
  4. Prepare a campaign from a template: choose when and to whom it shows.
  5. Publish it and watch the impressions. Test Popup visibility helps when a popup does not appear.

Collected contacts are in Leads; A/B experiments compare two versions; Webhooks send leads to your other tools.

Web Push Notifications

Menu: Overview, Sites, Subscribers, Segments, Activity, Campaigns, Templates, Automations, Welcome, RSS to Push, Reports, Settings.

  1. In Sites, add your domain. It must use HTTPS.
  2. Click Download sw.js and upload the file to the root of your site.
  3. Click Copy embed code and paste it before </head>.
  4. Run the installation check.
  5. Create your first campaign, or set up a Welcome message for new subscribers.

RSS to Push turns new articles into notifications; Automations send triggered messages. Subscribers need no app: web push works in the browser on desktop and mobile.
