What it is
Halloween is celebrated on 31 October. It has roots in old autumn traditions in the British Isles and Ireland, and is usually linked to the eve of All Saints' Day. Today it is best known for costumes, carved pumpkins, trick-or-treating and spooky parties, especially in the US and the UK.
For businesses it is a rich visual day: cafés, shops and children's venues use decorations, costumes and themed treats to make content that people love to share.
Symbols: A carved pumpkin, a ghost, a witch’s hat, a bat, candy, spider webs, candles

The café has turned into a haunted house. For Halloween we added a pumpkin latte with a ghost-shaped biscuit, a “witch’s brew” hot chocolate and a bat-shaped gingerbread. Come in costume, take a photo in our cobweb corner and tag us. We will repost the best one. Which treat will you try first?
We are hosting a Halloween afternoon for children: a costume parade, a gentle ghost story, a craft table and a pumpkin-decorating contest. Costumes are welcome, but not required. Places are limited, so write to us to reserve a spot, and tell us your child’s age so we can plan the activities. We keep it fun, not scary.
Forgot to prepare a costume for Halloween? Here are three ideas you can make from things at home in ten minutes: a ghost from a white sheet, a witch with a dark hat and a bat from a black cardigan. Watch the video, pick your favourite and show us your result in the comments. We love seeing creative last-minute looks.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. A scary perfect costume from an inspiration photo against the homemade version made at the last minute. Self-ironic and friendly; works well as a Reel or a Story.
- Which one are you?. A set of three seasonal characters with a question: which one is your team this week? Great for comments and for staff photos.
What to avoid
- Do not use costumes or decorations that mock real people, cultures, religions or mental illness, and avoid imagery of violence or gore, especially if children read your account
- Do not promise a prize, a discount or a free item in the text unless you have fixed it in advance
- Do not pressure children to dress up or collect candy; keep the day inclusive, and mention allergens if you serve sweets
When to post
- Decorate and shoot the content in the last week of October, and announce the party at least a week ahead
- Publish the main post on the morning of 31 October; in 2026 it is a Saturday, so families have time to plan
- On 1 November, share the best photos of guests and thank everyone who joined
What to check afterwards
- Posts and stories from guests that tag you, which are your user-generated content
- Reservations or sales of the themed items
- Saves of the costume-ideas content and reach of the Reel
