What it is

World Vegan Day is observed on 1 November. It is usually linked to the Vegan Society in the United Kingdom, which marked the occasion in the 1990s to celebrate its founding and to encourage people to learn about vegan food and lifestyle.

For cafés and wellness brands it is a day to highlight plant-based dishes and products, to label them clearly and to invite curious guests, not only vegans, to try something new.

Symbols: A green leaf, a vegetable bowl, a plant-milk latte, a farmers' market basket

Emoji: 🌱 🥗 🥑 🍠 🌿 💚

Colours: Leaf green, warm beige, terracotta

Hashtags: #WorldVeganDay #PlantBased #VeganFood #VeganRecipes #EatMorePlants

What to aim for

  • Launch or highlight a vegan dish or product and fill the tables
  • Make vegan options easy to find with clear labelling
  • Welcome curious non-vegans with a friendly, non-judgmental tone

Post ideas by format

  • A vegan dish of the day with a photo and a clear list of ingredients
  • A short note on how you mark vegan items on the menu and why

  • “A vegan breakfast in five steps”: a simple recipe, one step per slide

Reel / short video

  • Hook: “Can you guess what is in this creamy sauce?” A short cooking demo with a reveal at the end
  • A taste test with a guest who normally orders meat, filmed with their consent and honest reaction

Stories

  • A poll: “Have you tried a vegan dish this month?”
  • A question box: “What would you like to see on our vegan menu?”

Meme and trend formats that fit

  • Expectation vs reality. What people think vegan food tastes like against a beautiful, hearty plate from your kitchen. Keep it friendly and inviting, not mocking anyone’s diet.
  • Can you guess?. A mystery-ingredient format: show the dish and ask what the secret ingredient is. Reveal the answer in the next story or a pinned comment.

What to avoid

  • Do not preach or shame people who eat meat; invite, do not lecture
  • Do not label a dish vegan unless you have checked every ingredient, including sauces and hidden dairy or egg; mention allergens
  • Do not make health or weight-loss claims about vegan food

When to post

  • Test and photograph the vegan dish in the last week of October
  • Publish on 1 November; in 2026 it is a Sunday, a good day for a brunch offer
  • In the days after, collect feedback and decide whether the dish stays on the menu

What to check afterwards

  • Orders and visits for the vegan dish
  • Saves of the recipes and the vegan-menu carousel
  • Comments from guests with ideas, which show what to add next
