What it is
World Pasta Day is observed on 25 October. It is usually linked to the first World Pasta Congress in 1995, organised by pasta producers, and since then it has become a cheerful food holiday for restaurants, cafés and food lovers.
For cafés it is an easy menu day: a pasta of the day, a quick recipe or a friendly argument about which shape is the best.

It is World Pasta Day, and our kitchen is celebrating with a classic: tagliatelle with slow-cooked tomato sauce, fresh basil and a little parmesan. It is simple, warm and exactly what an October evening needs. Come in and try it, and tell us in the comments which pasta shape is your favourite. The winner gets a place on the menu.
Here is our chef’s tip for World Pasta Day: do not pour all the pasta water away. A small ladle of starchy water makes the sauce glossy and helps it cling to the pasta. Watch how it changes the dish in ten seconds. Send this to someone who cooks pasta at home, and tell us which shape you cook the most.
Happy World Pasta Day! In our catalogue we collected a set for a pasta evening at home: a few shapes, sauces and things that go well with them. Open the catalogue from the menu button and tell us how many people you are cooking for, and we will suggest a combination. And write to us: what is your fastest weeknight pasta?
Meme and trend formats that fit
- This or that. Two pasta shapes side by side and a question: which one wins? Works as a Story poll or a comment-bait post.
- Expectation vs reality. A perfect restaurant plate against a home dinner where the pasta stuck together. Keep it warm and self-ironic.
What to avoid
- Do not insult how other countries cook pasta; keep the debate friendly
- Do not claim a dish is authentic, traditional or Italian unless it truly is
- Do not forget to mention allergens such as gluten or egg if you present a dish
When to post
- Choose and shoot the pasta of the day two or three days ahead
- Publish on Sunday, 25 October 2026, around late morning, when people are planning the family lunch
- On Monday, announce the poll winner and bring it to the menu if you promised
What to check afterwards
- Poll votes and comments about favourite shapes
- Orders or visits for the pasta of the day
- Saves and shares of the chef’s tip
