What it is
The International Day of Peace is observed on 21 September. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981 and is dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace, with a call for a ceasefire and non-violence on that day.
It is a serious, humanitarian date, so businesses taking part should speak calmly and sincerely, and avoid using it for promotion.

Today is the International Day of Peace. We invite you to take one quiet minute: breathe in slowly, count to four, and breathe out for six. Peace begins in small moments, in the way we speak to each other and to ourselves. If you would like to practise together, our doors are open for a gentle evening session. Take care of yourself and those around you.
On the International Day of Peace our team wants to say something simple: peace also begins at work, in how we listen, disagree and give feedback. We try to be respectful in every conversation, with clients and with each other. Thank you to all our colleagues and partners for working together with kindness. What helps you keep a calm and respectful team?
Today is the International Day of Peace, and we invite you to a quiet gesture of kindness. Leave a good word for someone, write a short note on a card at our counter, or send a message to a person you have lost touch with. We will pass the cards on to those who need a kind word. A hot tea is waiting for you.
What to avoid
- Do not use jokes, memes or sarcasm: the day is about peace and many people connect it to real loss and war
- Avoid political statements, assigning blame or taking sides; stay with calm, universal human values
- Do not mix the post with sales, discounts or a promotional tone; a sincere message and a concrete act of help are enough
When to post
- Prepare the message and the helping action at least a week ahead and check the charity
- Publish calmly on the morning of 21 September; in 2027 it falls on a Tuesday
- The day after, report on any action you carried out, in a modest tone
What to check afterwards
- Sincere replies and shares, rather than raw reach
- How many people joined the helping action
- The tone of comments, which shows whether the message was received as intended
