KPI (key performance indicator)

A KPI is a measurable number that shows whether you are moving towards an important business goal.

A KPI (key performance indicator) is a metric you choose deliberately because it reflects progress towards a goal that matters. Not every metric is a KPI: followers and likes are metrics, but they become KPIs only if they are tied to a real objective and a target, such as “20 booking requests from Instagram per month”.

For a small business, a short list of KPIs keeps social media work focused. Useful examples: number of leads or messages, cost per lead, conversion rate from visit to order, repeat purchases, response time in DMs, and reach among the local audience. Three to five KPIs reviewed monthly are enough; more usually means none gets attention.

Example: a dance school sets one quarterly goal: fill two new beginner groups. Its KPIs are trial-class requests per week, the share of trial students who buy a subscription and the cost per request from ads.

AI SMM analytics gives the social side of your KPIs (followers, reach, engagement and posts across networks), while popups and email campaigns track conversions and sales.
