What it is
International Plastic Bag Free Day is observed on 3 July. It was started by environmental groups to encourage people and shops to give up single-use plastic bags and switch to reusable options.
Shops, cafes and delivery brands use it to show their packaging choices and to invite customers to bring their own bag or cup.

Meme and trend formats that fit
- Bag of bags. A simple image of the drawer full of old bags that everyone has, with a caption about finally using them. A relatable, gentle joke about habits.
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: always remembering the tote bag versus leaving it by the door. Self-ironic and kind, never shaming customers.
What to avoid
- Do not claim your business is fully plastic-free or eco-friendly unless it is true; describe exactly what you changed
- Avoid guilt-tripping customers who forgot their bag; keep the tone friendly
- Do not replace plastic with a low-effort slogan; show a real, specific step
When to post
- Prepare packaging photos and a checklist a week ahead
- Publish on 3 July in the morning, ideally in a post customers can save
- The day after, thank participants and share how many people joined in, only with real numbers
What to check afterwards
- Saves and shares of the tips carousel
- Number of customers who brought their own bag or cup during the day
- Comments and replies about packaging suggestions
