What it is
Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day is observed on 27 June. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly to draw attention to the role of small businesses in the economy and in sustainable development.
For small businesses it is a rare day when telling your own story feels natural, and when recommending neighbours and partners builds goodwill.

Today is the day of small business, and we want to say thank you. Five years ago we started in a tiny kitchen with one oven and a borrowed table. Every loaf you buy is part of that story. Tell us in the comments which small business you love and we will share your picks in Stories.
On MSME Day we want to thank the small businesses that trust us with their marketing. They make decisions fast, know their customers by name and care about every detail. If you run a small business, what is one thing you wish bigger companies understood about your work? Share it in the comments.
We are a small shop, and we are proud of the small businesses around us. This week we are recommending three neighbours: a bakery, a repair studio and a flower stall. We tagged them below. Tell us which small business you would add to this list and why. We will visit them and share what we find.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- A day in the life of a small-business owner. A simple graphic listing the many hats you wear in a day: baker, accountant, courier, social media manager. Self-ironic and relatable for other owners.
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: the picture of owning a business and the real day at 7 a.m. Keep it honest and warm, not bitter.
What to avoid
- Do not turn the day into an ad; stories and recommendations work better than a sale banner
- Avoid vague claims like “we are the best”; tell one concrete, true detail
- Do not tag businesses without asking them or without being sure they want to be mentioned
When to post
- Message the businesses you plan to tag a few days ahead
- Publish a story post in the morning of 27 June and share recommendations during the day
- The day after, thank the businesses that reshared and keep in touch for possible partnerships
What to check afterwards
- Reshares and mentions from tagged businesses
- New followers from local accounts
- Messages from potential partners or customers who read your story
