What it is

International Day of Yoga is observed on 21 June. It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 after a proposal from India, and the date is usually linked to the June solstice.

Studios, gyms and wellness brands use it to invite beginners, run open classes and share simple routines.

Start with ten minutes

Today is International Day of Yoga, and the best way to celebrate is simple: unroll a mat and give yourself ten minutes. We prepared a gentle routine for beginners, with three poses and slow breathing. Save the post, try it tomorrow morning and tell us in the comments how you felt. Everyone is welcome in our studio.

Open class on the grass

On the Day of Yoga we are holding an open class outdoors. No experience is needed, bring a mat or a towel and a bottle of water. Our instructor will explain every pose and offer easy versions. Places are limited, so write to the club admin in this channel to reserve yours. See you in the morning light.

Yoga for a desk worker

In this short video I show a seven-minute sequence for people who sit all day: neck, shoulders, back and hips. You do not need special clothes, only a chair and a little floor space. Watch it once, then do it with me. In the comments, tell me which part of your body feels tight at the end of a workday.

Meme and trend formats that fit

  • Expectation vs reality. Two panels: the perfect pose on a beach versus a beginner wobbling on a mat at home. Keep it friendly so beginners feel welcome.
  • Me trying to focus on my breath. A calm caption image where the mind drifts to a shopping list or unread messages. Relatable for beginners and not about anyone in particular.

What to avoid

  • Do not make medical promises or claim that yoga cures illness; describe it as a practice for movement and calm
  • Avoid showing only very flexible bodies; show beginner versions and different people
  • Do not treat the practice as a joke; keep humour gentle and respectful of its traditions

When to post

  • Announce the open class 7–10 days ahead so people can plan
  • Publish in the early morning of 21 June or the evening before
  • The day after, share photos from the class and send participants a thank-you with a next-class date

What to check afterwards

  • Saves of the routine carousel, which signal real usefulness
  • Bookings or sign-ups for the open class and first trial visits
  • New followers and replies to the “what stops you” question
