What it is
International Sushi Day is an informal food day observed on 18 June in many countries. It spread through social media and restaurant communities, and its exact origin is not well documented, so it is best treated as a friendly occasion rather than an official holiday.
Sushi bars, restaurants and delivery services use it to feature a set of the day, show how rolls are made and invite guests to try something new.

Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Left: a perfectly arranged sushi platter. Right: the same platter five minutes after the table has arrived. Keep it warm and let the product look good in both panels.
- Soy sauce is a personality. Show how much soy sauce different people use, from a drop to a full dip. Ask followers which one they are, and lead them to a poll.
What to avoid
- Do not promise a delivery giveaway without clear rules, a deadline and a way to verify the winner
- Do not make health claims about fish or raw food; keep the tone about taste and craft
- Avoid stock photos of sushi from another restaurant; real photos of your own food are more trustworthy
When to post
- Agree the set of the day and the stock with the kitchen a week ahead
- Publish a teaser on the evening before and the main post on the morning of 18 June
- The day after, announce the giveaway winner and share guest photos
What to check afterwards
- Orders and visits with the set of the day compared with a normal day
- Comments and entries to the giveaway
- Saves and shares of the carousel and the Reel
