What it is
National Selfie Day is an informal American social-media day, usually marked on 21 June, when people share selfies with a hashtag. It has no official status and grew out of online culture rather than a government decision.
Beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands like it because the content is made by customers themselves: a selfie with a product, a new haircut or a favourite spot.
Symbols: A phone camera, a mirror, a ring light, a smile, a front-facing camera
Emoji: 🤳 📸 😄 ✨ 💄 🪞
Colours: Bright pink, white, sunny yellow
Hashtags: #NationalSelfieDay #SelfieDay #Selfie #SelfieTime #BeautyBrand

Ready-made post examples
Layouts we wrote as examples. Replace the details with your own business before you publish.
It is National Selfie Day, and we love seeing your fresh looks. Post a selfie with your new hair, nails or glow, tag our salon and add the hashtag from this post. With your permission, we will share our favourite photos in Stories. Tell us in the comments which angle works best for you.
Selfie Day challenge: take a selfie with the item you love most from our shop. It can be a bag, a mug, anything. Film a three-second clip with the product and your best smile, and add our hashtag. We will pick several videos to show on our account, with your consent. Show us what you got.
On Selfie Day we are sharing a simple team photo: six people, one office, a lot of coffee. Behind every campaign we deliver there are real people with their own style and sense of humour. If you work with a remote team, how do you keep a human connection? Share your tips in the comments.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: the angle you planned and the selfie that actually came out. Use your own team's photos and keep the joke gentle.
- Photo dump format. A carousel of ten casual team selfies with a short funny caption each. Makes the account feel more human.
What to avoid
- Do not repost client selfies without asking first; always get permission
- Avoid comments about anyone's appearance; keep the contest about fun and creativity
- Do not require too many steps to enter; a hashtag and a tag are enough
When to post
- Announce the contest one or two days ahead and create a simple hashtag
- On the day, post early and reshare entries in Stories through the day
- The day after, thank participants and announce the winners
What to check afterwards
- Number of selfies posted under your hashtag and tags
- Comments and story mentions as a sign of engagement
- New followers and profile visits from the contest posts
Add one line about your business: the free generator gives three captions with hashtags for the network you choose. No sign-up.
