What it is
Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on 7 January by churches that follow the Julian calendar for church holidays, including the Russian Orthodox Church. It is a public holiday in Russia and Kazakhstan, and is usually marked with church services, a family table and a gentle, quiet atmosphere.
For brands it is a day for a calm tone: a warm greeting, a family tradition and a reminder of opening hours work better than any promotion.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate today. We have put out candles, baked something warm and kept the lights low so you can take a quiet break between family dinners. If you are out for a walk in the snow, come in for tea and a slice of something sweet. We wish you a peaceful day with the people you love.
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Thank you for being with us this year. During the holidays our team is working with shorter hours: orders are accepted, and shipping resumes on the first working day after the holidays. If you are looking for a small gift for someone you love, you can open the catalogue from the menu button. We wish you a warm and quiet day.
On Christmas, our team shared a family tradition each. One bakes the same bread every year, another visits grandparents for tea, a third lights a candle at the window. What is your family’s tradition? We would love to read your stories in the comments. Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates, and thank you for being with us this year.
What to avoid
- Do not use memes or jokes about religion, church or fasting; this is a religious holiday, and a respectful tone is more important than reach
- Do not use the day for aggressive sales banners or countdowns
- Do not assume all followers celebrate; use warm wording such as “to all who celebrate” and avoid explaining the faith as an outsider
When to post
- Prepare the greeting and the visual several days ahead and schedule it so the team can be offline
- Publish in the morning of 7 January with a calm visual and a short text
- After the holiday, return to normal content gradually, starting with a thank-you and the news of reopening
What to check afterwards
- Warm replies and shares, which matter more than reach on this day
- New followers and profile visits, which show how people react to a quiet tone
- Orders or messages in the first working days after the holidays
