What it is
World Bee Day is observed on 20 May. It was proclaimed by the United Nations in 2017 to raise awareness of the importance of bees and other pollinators for food and for nature. The date is the birthday of Anton Janša, a Slovenian pioneer of modern beekeeping.
For businesses it is a friendly, positive nature day. Cafés, bakeries, kids’ brands and shops can talk about honey, local producers and simple ways to help pollinators, without inventing claims about their own impact.

Ready-made post examples
Layouts we wrote as examples. Replace the details with your own business before you publish.
For World Bee Day we added a honey latte to the menu for the day. We make it with local honey, a pinch of cinnamon and a lot of care. Every drink comes with a card that tells you how to help bees at home with one simple plant on a windowsill. Tell us in the comments if you prefer honey in coffee or in tea.
On World Bee Day we invite children to learn five bee facts: how they dance to show where flowers are, how many jobs one hive has and why we should never be afraid of a friendly bee on a flower. Download our colouring page, draw your own bee and send a photo. We will publish the best drawings on the page.
On World Bee Day we want to introduce the beekeeper we buy honey from. In the channel we publish a short interview with questions from our readers: how the season goes, how honey differs by flowers and how to choose a good jar. Send your question in the comments, and we will pass it to the beekeeper.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Busy as a bee. A short clip of your team doing several tasks at once with a “busy as a bee” caption. Light and friendly, and it works well with a honey drink at the end.
- True or false quiz. A fast sequence of bee facts as a quiz with the answer revealed after a short pause. Use only facts that are well established.
What to avoid
- Do not claim that your business saves the bees, or state numbers about bee populations without a clear source
- Do not use a real beekeeper’s photo or name without their permission
- Do not show a bee in a way that frightens children; a friendly, educational tone is better
When to post
- Prepare the menu item or the offer two weeks ahead and check allergies and honey sources
- Publish in the morning of 20 May and add a quiz in Stories in the afternoon
- The day after, thank the people who joined and mention the beekeeper or partner
What to check afterwards
- Saves and shares of the carousel and the Reel
- Sales of the honey item or the product you featured
- Questions and answers in the quiz Stories
