What it is
Earth Day is an environmental observance first held on 22 April 1970 in the United States. Today it is marked in more than 190 countries with clean-ups, tree planting, talks and campaigns.
For businesses it is a chance to show real, concrete environmental steps. Audiences quickly notice empty slogans, so the day works best with small, honest actions you can actually describe.
Symbols: The planet, a seedling, a reusable bag, a recycling symbol, a green leaf
Emoji: 🌍 🌱 ♻️ 🌳 💧 🌿
Colours: Forest green, ocean blue, earth brown
Hashtags: #EarthDay #ZeroWaste #SustainableLiving #ReduceReuseRecycle #GoGreen
What to aim for
- Build trust by showing concrete steps, however small
- Involve the community in an action such as a clean-up or a reusable-packaging offer
- Attract customers who care about sustainability
Post ideas by format

- A clean-up montage with the team and volunteers ending with the total of bags collected, real figures only

For Earth Day, here is one simple step from our café: bring your own cup, and the barista will add a small thank-you to your drink. It will not save the planet by itself, but small habits add up. Tell us in the comments what reusable item you never leave home without.
Happy Earth Day! In the last year we switched to simpler packaging and stopped adding extra inserts to orders. We are not perfect yet, and we will keep improving. Today we invite you to tell us what packaging annoys you most, so we know what to change next. Your answers help us decide our next step.
On Earth Day we are gathering families for a short clean-up of the park near our centre. Bring gloves, bags and good humour. Children will receive a simple eco-quest to complete while they help. Write “I am in” in the comments if you plan to join, and we will send the meeting point and the time in this chat.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: our perfect zero-waste kitchen and the real one with three types of containers. Use it as a gentle, self-aware joke that invites people to try one small step.
- Before and after. A real photo of a place before a clean-up and after. It needs no caption beyond the date and the number of volunteers.
What to avoid
- Do not greenwash: avoid vague claims like “100% eco-friendly” unless you can prove them
- Do not use the day only for discounts that encourage extra consumption
- Do not shame people for their habits; invite them to join a small step
When to post
- Plan any clean-up or offer at least two weeks ahead and confirm the location
- Publish on the morning of 22 April (a Thursday in 2027) and run the event on the weekend if needed
- Share the results and thank volunteers within two days
What to check afterwards
- Sign-ups for the event and actual attendance
- Shares and saves of the practical tips
- Use of the reusable-container offer, if you ran one
