What it is
International Youth Day is observed on 12 August. It was designated by the United Nations to draw attention to the role of young people in society and to the issues they face, such as education and work. Each year the UN gives it a theme.
For businesses it is a day to show how they work with young people: internships, mentoring, first jobs and young specialists on the team.

Happy International Youth Day! Our young specialists are not only learning: they bring ideas that change how we work. Today we open applications for our autumn internship. Write to us in Direct to learn the conditions, the schedule and how to apply. No experience is needed, only curiosity and a wish to try.
On International Youth Day we want to thank our youngest team members. They taught us to ask simple questions, test new tools quickly and say honestly when a process is too complicated. Mentoring works in both directions. Which lesson did you learn from a younger colleague? Share it in the comments, and let’s collect them together.
Today is International Youth Day, so here is an honest look at a first day at work. Our newest team member shows what they expected and what actually happened. Spoiler: the coffee machine was the hardest part. Tell us in the comments about your own first day, and we will read the best stories in our next video.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Two panels: what a first working day looks like in a young person’s head versus the real one. Keep it kind and let a young colleague tell the joke.
- Job requirements. A light joke about job posts that require long experience for an entry-level role. It should speak for young people, not against employers in general.
What to avoid
- Do not talk down to young people or use stereotypes about “the generation”
- Do not promise an internship, a job or earnings you cannot offer; be honest about conditions
- Do not use a young person’s photo or story without their consent, and do not publish photos of minors without a parent’s permission
When to post
- Prepare the programme details and a young colleague’s story two weeks ahead
- Publish in the morning of 12 August and answer questions in Stories during the day
- The day after, follow up with people who applied and reshare their questions with answers
What to check afterwards
- Applications or messages about the internship or course
- Saves and shares of the first-job carousel
- Comments and replies from young followers
