What it is
Social Worker's Day is a professional holiday in Russia, observed on 8 June. It was established in the early 2000s by a presidential decree to recognise the people who help older adults, people with disabilities, families in difficult situations and others who need support.
Businesses in health care and services can use the day to say thank you sincerely, to share information about available support and, if it is practical and fair, to offer help to people in this profession.
Symbols: A helping hand, a warm cup of tea, a heart, a house, a thank-you card
Emoji: 🤝 ❤️ 🏠 🌷 🙏 ☕
Colours: Warm coral, soft blue, cream
Hashtags: #SocialWorkersDay #ThankYou #Care #Volunteering #Support
What to aim for
- Say a sincere thank-you to people who do important and often unnoticed work
- Build trust through useful information on where people can find support
- For clinics and services: offer practical help to social workers if you can sustain it
Post ideas by format
Post
- A thank-you note to social workers in your city, ideally with a real quote from your own colleague who works in that field
- A clear guide on where people in your city can get social support, with phone numbers you have checked
Carousel
- “What a social worker does in a day”: slides built from a short interview with a real specialist
- “How we can help older relatives”: practical steps, one per slide, drawn from verified sources
Reel / short video
- Hook: “Thank you for being there.” Team members each say one short word of gratitude, without props
- A short, respectful interview with a social worker about what motivates them
Stories
- A thank-you card that followers can send by replying to a story
- A question box: “Whom would you like to thank today?”

Today is Social Worker's Day in Russia. We want to say thank you to those who visit people at home, talk to families, solve complicated paperwork and often stay when others cannot. Your work makes the city kinder. If you work in this field, write to us if we can help with a consultation or an appointment.
On Social Worker's Day we want to thank everyone who looks after others. Our pharmacists remember many customers by name, and we know how often social workers help them. If you are a social worker and need advice about medicines for a client, come to us or write in this chat, and a pharmacist will answer as soon as possible.
Today we thank social workers for their patient and caring work. Many of them help people we meet in our shop every week. If your team supports older adults or families and needs warm clothes, books or household items, tell us in the comments or by message, and we will see how we can help. Thank you for what you do.
What to avoid
- Do not joke about people receiving social help; keep the tone dignified
- Do not use photos of vulnerable people without clear written consent
- Do not use the day purely as an advertising opportunity; start with gratitude and keep any offer simple and fair
When to post
- Prepare the message and any offer two weeks ahead, and check phone numbers and facts
- Publish on the morning of 8 June, when social workers begin their working day
- The day after, share replies and thanks that you received, with permission
What to check afterwards
- Replies and messages from social workers, which show the message reached the right people
- Saves and shares of the guide, which show practical value
- Use of any offer, if you made one, and feedback about it
