What it is
The first day of summer on 1 June is the calendar start of the season in Russia and many other countries that count seasons by months. Astronomical summer begins later, but in everyday life 1 June is the day when people say that summer has started.
In Russia it also coincides with the start of school holidays and the beginning of the holiday season, so businesses use it for summer menus, new collections, summer opening hours and holiday offers.

Summer has started, and so has our new menu: cold drinks, light salads and desserts with seasonal fruit. We have kept the favourites and added a few things you asked for. Come and try them on the terrace, which is open from today. Tell us in the comments which summer drink you want to see first.
It is 1 June, so it is time for a summer list. We wrote ours: a weekend by water, a mountain sunrise, and a trip we have been postponing for years. What is on yours? Reply with three items, and we will choose a few and suggest a route for each. If you want help choosing dates, write to us.
First days of summer ask for light fabrics and easy outfits. We collected a board of looks that work from the office to the evening walk: linen shirts, breathable dresses and comfortable shoes. Save the pins you like and open the catalogue from our profile to see what is available in your size.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Left: a perfect beach summer plan. Right: a real one with an umbrella, work calls and a fan. Add a gentle product tie-in, such as a cold drink or a light collection.
- Me on 31 May vs me on 1 June. Two panels showing a tired, wrapped-up person and the same person in sunglasses. It works for any niche that sells a seasonal change.
What to avoid
- Do not promise a summer collection or menu that is not ready; announce it only when customers can really buy it
- Avoid cliches like “summer is for rest” if your audience works through the season; speak about convenience instead
- Do not forget the weather: if it is cold on 1 June in your region, joke about it rather than pretend
When to post
- Prepare the summer menu, photos and schedule in the last week of May
- Publish on the morning of 1 June, ideally with a story the same day for a poll or quiz
- In the following days share customer photos from the first summer visits
What to check afterwards
- Orders or visits of items from the summer menu or collection during the first week
- Poll and quiz answers, which tell you what your audience wants this season
- Saves and shares of the carousel or board, which signal the content is useful for planning
