What it is
World No Tobacco Day is observed every year on 31 May. It was established by the World Health Organization in the late 1980s to draw attention to the health risks of tobacco use and to encourage policies and habits that reduce them.
For health businesses the day is an opportunity to share responsible, expert information and to offer practical support to people who want to quit, without pressure or shaming.

Today is World No Tobacco Day. If you are thinking about quitting, you do not have to do it alone or in a day. Our doctor shared five calm first steps in the carousel: from choosing a date to telling a friend. Save it for later, send it to someone who needs it, and ask your questions in the comments.
On World No Tobacco Day we want to support everyone who is trying to quit. Moving more often helps many people manage cravings and stress, but it is not a cure and it is not the same for everyone. If you are quitting, ask a doctor first. Our trainers are happy to suggest a gentle starter routine.
World No Tobacco Day is a good moment to explain how we support our team. Our workplace is smoke-free, and we offer time for medical consultations to colleagues who decide to quit. We believe such support should be private, respectful and never a source of pressure. How does your company support employees who want to change a habit?
What to avoid
- Do not shame or scare people who smoke; quitting is hard, and judgemental content makes them scroll away
- Do not give medical advice about medicines or quitting methods unless it comes from a qualified specialist with their name on it
- Do not make jokes about addiction or illness, and do not use graphic images of disease
When to post
- Agree texts with your doctor or specialist at least a week ahead
- Publish on 31 May in the morning, and keep the tone supportive rather than urgent
- The day after, reply to every question and comment personally, and offer a private route for consultation
What to check afterwards
- Saves and shares of the guide: they show whether the content was useful enough to keep
- Questions in comments and direct messages, which show what your audience really worries about
- Bookings or enquiries for consultations that came from the post
