What it is
Psychologist’s Day in Russia is a professional day marked on 22 November. The date is usually linked to the Russian psychological community, and the day has been celebrated in the country since the 1990s. It is an unofficial day, but psychologists, students and clients often use it to share thanks and useful information.
It is a sensitive area, because the audience may include people who struggle with their wellbeing. The best content is calm, honest and practical: explaining what a psychologist does, how to choose a specialist and where to find help.

Today is Psychologist’s Day. I am opening a short question session: write anonymously what you would like to know about working with a psychologist. I will answer in general terms, without diagnoses or individual advice. If you are in a difficult moment, please contact a specialist or a local helpline. Questions are open until the evening, and I will publish answers tomorrow.
On Psychologist’s Day we say thank you to the specialists who support people every day. For those who want to start gently, here are three small habits: a short walk without a phone, a glass of water in the morning and a few minutes of quiet before sleep. These are not therapy, only small supports. How do you take care of yourself on busy days?
Choosing a psychologist can feel difficult. A few simple points may help: check the specialist’s education and area of work, ask how the first consultation will go and notice whether you feel safe in the conversation. It is fine to try more than one specialist. On Psychologist’s Day, we thank our team and invite you to ask questions about how to start.
What to avoid
- Do not use jokes or memes about therapy, mental health conditions or people who ask for help; many readers are in a vulnerable moment
- Do not promise results, diagnose, give individual advice in comments or publish stories of real clients, even anonymised, without strict consent and professional ethics checks
- Do not use scare tactics or pressure such as “act today”; if you offer a trial consultation, state clearly what it is, and keep the invitation optional
When to post
- Prepare materials two weeks ahead and, if you are not a specialist yourself, ask a psychologist to review them
- Publish in the morning of 22 November, a Sunday in 2026, in a calm tone, and avoid late-night posting for the question session
- The day after, publish answers to the questions and gently signpost to help for people who wrote in distress
What to check afterwards
- Quality and number of questions, which show what people want to understand
- Saves and shares of the educational posts
- Requests for a first conversation, tracked without any pressure on followers
