What it is
World Television Day is marked on 21 November. It is usually linked to the United Nations General Assembly, which proclaimed the day in 1996 after the first World Television Forum, in recognition of the growing impact of television on how people get information and form opinions.
For small businesses it is a fun, lightweight theme: favourite shows, TV-style videos, a poll about streaming versus television. It also suits education and media brands that talk about how stories are made and consumed.
Symbols: A television set, a remote control, a sofa with a blanket, popcorn, a clapperboard
Emoji: 📺 🍿 🎬 🛋️ 📡 ⭐
Colours: Charcoal, electric blue, warm orange
Hashtags: #WorldTelevisionDay #TVTime #WatchParty #CozyEvening #BehindTheScenes
What to aim for
- Entertain and get easy comments about favourite shows (engagement)
- Show the team’s personality through behind-the-scenes content (trust)
- For education and media brands: start a conversation about media literacy and how stories are made (reach)
Post ideas by format
Post
- “Our team’s TV picks”: five short lines with the name of a person and a show they enjoy, without spoilers
- A TV-guide-style post with your week’s schedule, such as opening hours, events and offers, in the layout of a programme listing
Carousel
- “How a TV-style video is made”: one step per slide from idea to editing, for education or media brands
- “A cosy evening in front of the TV”: one slide per snack, drink or blanket idea from your range
Reel / short video
- Hook: “Breaking news from our team.” A mock news bulletin about something funny from your day, done with a smile
- A 15-second channel-surfing montage that switches between your products or services like TV channels
Stories
- A poll: “Streaming or TV?”
- A question box: “What was the first show you remember?”

To mark World Television Day we made our weekly menu in the style of a TV guide. Breakfast is the morning show, lunch is the daily news and dessert is the evening movie. Check the carousel for what is on this week. Tell us in the comments which show you would watch with a cup of our hot chocolate.
For World Television Day, our students show how a two-minute news report is made, from the idea to the final cut. You will see how a script becomes pictures, why a good interview needs time and how an editor chooses shots. Watch to the end, and write in the comments which TV job you would like to try.
A good TV evening starts with a good sofa. Today we are sharing a few simple ideas for a cosy corner: soft lighting, a blanket within reach and a table for snacks. Our team is happy to suggest options from our showroom for rooms of different sizes. Which show is at the top of your list this week?
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Left: a plan to watch one episode. Right: it is 3 a.m. and the whole season has finished. A light joke that most viewers will recognise.
- Remote control argument. A simple two-panel format of two people with one remote control, drawn in your own style. Keep it affectionate, for example a family choosing a film.
What to avoid
- Do not post spoilers for popular shows, and do not use clips, stills or logos from shows or channels without rights
- Do not take sides in political debates about television channels or news outlets
- Do not use copyrighted characters or music in your videos; make your own TV-style graphics and sounds
When to post
- Prepare a TV-guide-style layout and a short video a week ahead
- Publish in the evening of 21 November, a Saturday in 2026, when people are most likely to be relaxing on the sofa
- The day after, share the funniest replies and thank people who joined the conversation
What to check afterwards
- Comments with show names, which show what your audience likes
- Shares of the TV-guide menu or video
- Views of the behind-the-scenes video and the story poll results
