What it is
Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, which is 26 November in 2026. It is traditionally linked to a harvest feast in the early 17th century and became a national holiday in the 19th century.
Today it is a day of family dinners, gratitude and the start of the holiday season. For businesses it is a natural moment to thank customers, share holiday hours and offer a simple seasonal product, with the days after it, such as Black Friday, often used for promotions.

Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Left: a perfectly set table with a smiling family. Right: a kitchen with fifteen pots and one hungry cat. A familiar, warm joke about holiday cooking.
- Plate-building choice. A two-option format with “seconds of pie” and “a nap”. Draw your own cartoon version and keep it cheerful.
What to avoid
- Do not mix the thank-you message with a loud sales pitch; keep Thanksgiving for gratitude and plan promotions for the days after if you want them
- Avoid insensitive jokes about the historical origins of the holiday; many people see it through a complex history, so keep the focus on gratitude and family
- Do not forget people who are alone or in a hard period; avoid language that assumes everyone has a large family table
When to post
- Share holiday hours and pre-order deadlines at least a week before
- Publish the gratitude post on the morning of Thursday, 26 November, and keep other posts light
- The day after, return to normal content, thank everyone who shared and remind customers about your hours
What to check afterwards
- Comments and replies to the gratitude question
- Pre-orders or holiday set sales, if you offered them
- Saves and shares of the holiday-hours post, which show how useful it was
