What it is
World Diabetes Day is held every year on 14 November. It was created by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization, and the date is usually linked to the birthday of Frederick Banting, who took part in the discovery of insulin. The blue circle is its widely recognised symbol.
It is an awareness day: a chance to talk about prevention, regular check-ups and support for people who live with diabetes. For businesses the right approach is information and care, not medical promises.
Symbols: The blue circle, a blue ribbon, a glucose meter, a healthy plate, a walking shoe
Emoji: 🔵 💙 🥗 🚶 🩺 🍎

What to aim for
- Raise awareness responsibly and show that your brand cares about health (trust)
- Help your audience with useful, non-medical information and links to reliable sources (reach and saves)
- For cafés and food brands: show a thoughtful menu with clear ingredient information (service)
Post ideas by format
Post
- A short post that lists the menu options with less sugar and says that ingredients are available on request, without health claims
- A guest post from a doctor or a nutrition specialist with general advice about regular check-ups, approved by them
Carousel
- “Five questions to ask your doctor about blood sugar”: one question per slide, with a final slide that says this is not medical advice
- “How to read a food label”: one slide for sugar, one for portion size, one for ingredients, one for a daily habit
Reel / short video
- A 20-second walk-and-talk with a specialist: “Three small daily habits”, with the expert’s name and role on screen
- A calm tour of a menu with ingredient information shown clearly on screen
Stories
- A story with the blue circle and a reminder to schedule a check-up
- A quiz “Myth or fact?” with the answer given by a specialist in the next story

On World Diabetes Day we want to make choosing easier. Our menu lists ingredients for every drink and dessert, and our team will happily tell you what is in them. You can also ask for drinks without added sugar. We believe that clear information is a form of care. Tell us what else would help you choose with confidence.
World Diabetes Day is a good moment to talk about regular check-ups. Our doctor explains in a short post which questions are worth discussing at an appointment, from family history to daily habits. This is general information and not a diagnosis. If you have concerns, please book a consultation with a specialist. Send us your questions here and we will answer the most common ones.
For World Diabetes Day, a simple idea: take a ten-minute walk after lunch for a week and see how it feels. This is not a treatment, only a gentle habit that many people enjoy. If you live with diabetes or have health questions, speak to your doctor before changing your activity. Tell us in the comments what your favourite walking route is.
What to avoid
- Do not use jokes or memes about diabetes, sugar or people’s bodies; this is a health awareness day and many readers live with the condition
- Do not make medical claims, promise results or suggest that a product, a diet or a service cures or controls diabetes
- Do not give individual medical advice in comments; point people to a doctor and to trusted organisations
When to post
- Prepare your content two weeks ahead if a specialist has to approve it, and check every claim
- Publish in the morning of 14 November with the blue circle; a calm weekend slot is fine because the date is a Saturday in 2026
- The day after, answer questions in comments with links to a doctor’s page or reliable public organisations, and thank the specialist who helped
What to check afterwards
- Saves and shares of the educational carousel
- Quality of comments and questions, which show what people want to know
- For a clinic or a café: appointment requests or menu questions after the post
