What it is
Veterans Day is a US federal holiday on 11 November that honours people who have served in the country’s armed forces. It began as Armistice Day, marking the end of fighting in the First World War, and was later renamed to honour veterans of all wars.
It is different from Memorial Day, which remembers those who died in service. Many businesses mark Veterans Day with a sincere thank-you, a clear message about their hours and, if they can really deliver it, a simple offer for veterans.
Symbols: The American flag, a salute, a folded flag, dog tags, a thank-you card

What to aim for
- Show respect for veterans in your team and your community (trust)
- Inform customers about hours and any veteran-specific gesture (service)
- Strengthen your local reputation with a sincere, non-salesy message
Post ideas by format
Post
- A thank-you post from the owner, with a real photo of a veteran on your team if they agree to be shown
- A short post with your holiday hours and a clear note on how veterans can use any gesture you offer
Carousel
- A respectful photo set of veterans in your team or community, each with a short note that they have approved
- “How we say thank you”: one slide per action, such as a free coffee, priority booking or a donation, only if you will really do it
Reel / short video
- A short, calm video of the team saying thank you in their own words, with no trending sound
- If a veteran agrees, a 20-second story about their work after service, told by them
Stories
- A plain thank-you story with the flag and your hours
- A story that asks followers to tag a veteran they want to thank, with permission before you reshare

Today is Veterans Day, and we want to say thank you to everyone who has served. Veterans who join us today are welcome to a free coffee or tea on the house. We will be open with our usual hours. Please tell us in the comments about a veteran in your family, so that we can remember them together.
On Veterans Day our team honours the men and women who served in the armed forces, including colleagues and clients in our community. Our office is closed today and we will reply to messages on the next business day. Thank you for your service, and to all who support veterans and their families.
Today we say thank you to the veterans who train with us and to everyone who has served. Your discipline and teamwork inspire our community every day. Our hours are normal this Veterans Day. If you are a veteran and would like to try a class with us, send us a message and we will find a time together.
What to avoid
- Do not turn the holiday into a sales event with loud banners; if you offer a veteran gesture, keep it modest and honest
- Do not use jokes, memes or trending sounds, and do not use military imagery or flags only as advertising decoration
- Do not confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day, and do not tag or show a veteran in your content without their agreement
When to post
- Decide a week ahead what you will really offer and agree it with your team, and invite your veteran colleagues to take part only if they wish
- Publish your thank-you in the morning of 11 November and keep the tone plain
- The day after, thank the people who responded and, with permission, share one story or photo
What to check afterwards
- Comments and replies, read with care and answered personally
- How many people used the veteran gesture, to decide whether to repeat it
- Local reach and new followers, as a secondary signal, not the goal
