What it is
Russian Science Day is celebrated on 8 February. It is linked to the founding of the Russian Academy of Sciences by a decree of Peter the Great in 1724, and the day was officially established as a professional holiday of scientists by a presidential decree in the late 1990s.
Today it is a day for universities, research institutes, schools, science popularisers and for businesses whose products are built on research. It works well for explaining complicated things simply.

What to aim for
- Build expert authority by explaining the science behind your product
- Educate and engage curious audiences, including students and parents
- For B2B: show depth of knowledge and a research-driven approach
Post ideas by format
Post
- A short story of how one idea or discovery led to your product, told without jargon
- A thank-you to scientists among your clients, partners and teachers
Carousel
- “The science behind our product” in five slides: question, hypothesis, test, result, what it means for you
- “Five myths about [your field]” with one short, honest explanation per slide
Reel / short video
- Hook: “Try this at home.” A safe, simple experiment explained in 30 seconds
- A researcher or specialist explains one complicated term in one sentence, then in one example
Stories
- A quiz: “True or false?” with three science facts about your field and answers the next day
- A question box: “Ask a scientist”, with a specialist answering during the day

Happy Science Day! Here is an experiment for a rainy afternoon: mix baking soda and vinegar in a deep tray, add a few drops of food colouring and watch the foam rise. Ask your kids to guess why it happens, then explain it together. Do it in the kitchen with an adult. Send us a video of your experiment and we will share our favourites.
On Science Day we want to thank the researchers whose work we build on every day. Our team follows the field closely, tests our ideas with real users and publishes what we learn in plain language. If you work in research, we would love to hear which question you wish more businesses took seriously. Share it in the comments and we will answer in our next post.
To celebrate Science Day, here is a short quiz for young scientists. Question one: why does a spoon in a glass of water look bent? Question two: why is the sky blue in the day and red at sunset? Question three: what makes a magnet attract a paper clip? Send us your answers, or let your child draw them, and we will share the explanations tonight.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Expectation vs reality. Left: a lab in a film with glowing flasks. Right: a real working desk with coffee cups and a laptop. Make the joke about the daily work, and show respect for the scientific process.
- Hypothesis vs result. Two panels: what you thought a project would look like and what the test showed. Use your own illustrations, and end with the lesson learned.
What to avoid
- Do not use pseudoscience, unverified claims or “scientists proved” phrases without naming a reliable source
- Do not propose dangerous experiments for children; always mention adult supervision and safe materials
- Do not present the date as a worldwide holiday: say it is celebrated in Russia as the Day of Russian Science
When to post
- Prepare the experiment and test it yourself a week ahead; 8 February 2027 is a Monday
- Publish in the morning with the quiz in Stories during the day
- The day after, share the best answers and the explanation of the quiz
What to check afterwards
- Saves and shares of the educational carousel or the experiment
- Replies to the quiz and the question box
- Visits to a page with expert materials or a lesson sign-up
Add one line about your business: the free generator gives three captions with hashtags for the network you choose. No sign-up.
