What it is
World Radio Day is celebrated on 13 February and was proclaimed by UNESCO to recognise radio as a medium that reaches people almost everywhere, including places with little internet access. Each year UNESCO usually chooses a theme.
For brands it is a natural hook for audio: podcasts, voice messages, playlists and short audio tips. It suits B2B teams, educators and experts who already speak more than they write.

What to aim for
- Promote an existing podcast episode or launch a short audio format
- Give followers a human voice behind the brand to build trust
- Collect questions and topics for future content
Post ideas by format
Post
- A post that shares your best episode or audio tip of the year with one sentence on who it is for
- “Our team’s playlist for working days”: five tracks and one line about why each one helps focus
Carousel
- “5 ways to use audio in your business”: one slide per idea such as podcasts, voice replies, audio briefs and recorded tips
- “How we record an episode”: slides from idea to publication
Reel / short video
- Hook: “30 seconds on the radio.” An expert gives one tip into a microphone, with a sound-wave overlay
- Behind the scenes: your team tries to guess the song from three seconds of audio
Stories
- A poll: “Podcasts or radio while you work?”
- A voice message from the founder, 20 seconds, to say thank you and ask for topic ideas
Ready-made post examples
Layouts we wrote as examples. Replace the details with your own business before you publish.
Today is World Radio Day, so we are trying something simple: a three-minute audio tip instead of another long article. It covers how to prepare a short briefing for a new client. Listen on your commute and tell us in the comments which topic you would like to hear next. We will record the most requested one.
On World Radio Day we recorded a short voice message: three ways to remember new words while you walk or cook. It takes two minutes. Listen to it, try one method this week and reply with the one that worked best. We will collect your answers and share them with the group on Friday.
Happy World Radio Day! We asked our teachers what they listen to when they prepare lessons, and here is the result: five albums and radio stations that help focus. Save the post for your next study session and tell us what you listen to when you need to concentrate. We might add it to the list.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Old technology, new use. Two panels: a vintage radio and a modern phone, with text about what your business can learn from audio. Keep the joke light and the message useful.
- Radio host voice. A short clip where a team member announces an everyday office event in a dramatic radio voice. It works well as a Reel with captions.
What to avoid
- Do not post audio without captions or a short text summary: many people scroll with the sound off
- Do not play copyrighted music in your clips unless the platform gives you a licensed track
- Do not make the audio long: one clear idea in two to three minutes is enough
When to post
- Record the audio a week ahead and check the sound quality on headphones and on a phone speaker
- Publish on the morning of 13 February (a Saturday in 2027), when people have time to listen
- In the following days, turn the audio into a text post or a carousel to extend its life
What to check afterwards
- Plays or listens and how far people listen, where the network shows it
- Replies and topic ideas in comments and messages
- Saves and shares of the playlist or tip
