What it is
International Coffee Day is observed on 1 October. It was launched by the International Coffee Organization in 2015 as a global celebration of coffee and a way to draw attention to the people who grow it.
Cafes, roasters and coffee shops use it to thank their regulars, showcase their baristas and tell the story of the beans.

- “Our menu from the lightest to the strongest”: one drink per slide

Today we celebrate the drink that starts a thousand mornings. Come in for our coffee of the day and bring a friend to share the table. Tell us in the comments how you take your coffee and we will pick three answers to feature in Stories. Thank you for making our small cafe part of your day.
In this video for International Coffee Day we follow our beans from the farm to the roaster and into your cup. We explain how the roast changes the flavour and why fresh beans matter. You will also see how we brew a filter coffee at home in five minutes. Tell us in the comments which brewing method you want us to explain next.
International Coffee Day deserves a good pairing. Our baristas suggest a flat white with a croissant, an espresso with a lemon tart, and a filter coffee with warm cinnamon rolls. Come by this morning and ask for a tasting suggestion. Tell us in the comments what you would pair with your favourite cup, and we will try the most original idea.
Meme and trend formats that fit
- Me before vs after coffee. Two panels showing a sleepy morning and a transformed afternoon. Keep it about the routine, not about people who dislike coffee.
- Coffee order personality. Match common drink orders with playful personality traits and ask followers to comment their order so you can guess their type.
What to avoid
- Do not announce free drinks or discounts you cannot honour; state the terms clearly
- Do not make health claims about coffee
- Do not reuse your National Coffee Day text; give 1 October its own story
When to post
- Prepare the special and photos a week ahead and brief the team
- Publish early on 1 October, when people choose their first cup
- The day after, reshare guests’ photos and thank them in a short post
What to check afterwards
- Visits and orders that mention the day
- Comments with coffee orders and Story poll votes
- Saves of the tasting or brewing carousel
